Your Outdoor Kitchen FAQs

The best countertop company at the Lake of the Ozarks doesn’t limit you to only indoor countertops! When it comes to outdoor kitchens, you know who to call for the highest quality stone for your outdoor countertops, sinks, and fireplace surrounds. Metro Marble & Granite is your expert in the industry, and we have answers to your questions. Read on for a few frequently asked questions about your outdoor kitchen.

Q: I think we’re ready for an outdoor kitchen. Where do I start?
A: You’ve come to the right place! Metro Marble & Granite specializes in outdoor kitchens, and we also do custom projects if you have something particular in mind. Head over to our website, www.MMGOzarks.com, and fill out our free quote request. Tell us a little about your project, and we’ll get ahold of you from there!

Q: Can I start building tomorrow?
A: It depends. If you’re planning on having a movable kitchen, you can roll and go. If you’re planning on having a built-in outdoor kitchen and installing plumbing and electric, you’ll need to make sure you have all the necessary paperwork. A contractor may be needed, and you might need to get permits. Be sure to do your research about your area before you jump right in.

Q: Should my outdoor kitchen match my indoor kitchen?
A: This is entirely up to you! To keep your home cohesive, it’s a good idea to stick with the same general style for both kitchens – but don’t feel limited! There are lots of different styles that people choose when it comes to outdoor kitchens. MMG at the Lake of the Ozarks has hundreds of colors and patterns available in both natural stone and quartz, and our talented and knowledgeable team of designers are happy to give you advice and assistance when it comes time to pick out a stone.

Q: Is it a hassle, having to go in and out between the “main” kitchen and the outdoor kitchen?
A: Outdoor kitchen designs have come a long way, and if it’s done right, there shouldn’t be any need for running back and forth. There are now options to have sinks, an oven and a stove, and even a refrigerator as a part of your outdoor kitchen. As long as your budget and your building contractor can handle it, your outdoor kitchen can be just as comprehensive as your “main” kitchen!

Q: What should my kitchen look like in terms of layout?
A: The layout, or shape, of your outdoor kitchen will depend heavily on the amount of space you have as well as your budget. Since you might have less space to work within your outdoor kitchen, the open and airy styles that are trending for indoor kitchens might not be feasible. A great, basic layout for an outdoor kitchen is just one countertop along one wall containing your grill and counter space. This layout includes the basics needed for an outdoor kitchen and will take up the least amount of space. This layout will typically accommodate for one cook. An L-shaped layout would be beneficial if you have the need to accommodate two or more cooks. This layout can also easily provide a buffet or bar seating area. With more counter space, a sink can be incorporated as well. A U-Shaped is a larger option, providing space for multiple appliances, including a grill, a sink, and perhaps a stove or refrigerator as well. More counter space leaves room for more seating as well. Keep in mind that Metro Marble & Granite can do custom projects at the Lake of the Ozarks if you have specific ideas!
