Top Kitchen Trends

These days, kitchens have become the focal point of the home and families tend to spend the majority of their time gathered in the kitchen. Decades ago, the kitchen was hidden in the back of the house, but today, the kitchen is front and center. Metro Marble & Granite knows that kitchens have changed a lot over the past few years and planning for a kitchen remodel is extremely important. If you’re preparing for a kitchen remodel in Lake of the Ozarks, check out some of these trends for some inspiration!

Quartz is Still the Favorite

When it comes to high-end kitchen countertops, quartz is still king. Not only is the material extremely durable and lasts forever, it’s easy to maintain and is also anti-microbial. What’s not to love? Granite, which is the main competitor of quartz, is great too, but it does require more maintenance. When quartz countertops first came onto the market, many worried that there wasn’t enough of a variety when it came to colors and finishes. But with a little bit of time and advancements in technology, manufacturers have been able to provide a variety of color to choose from as well as realistic stone patterns.

There is a recent trend towards softer and more neutral colors. More homeowners are opting for colors like white, grey, or taupe. Most of these colors are associated with a cleaner and simpler look. The pattern preferences have changed to veining from particulates that we’ve seen over the past few years. This follows the trend towards cleaner styles.

Cabinet Colors

White is still a top choice for kitchen cabinets. It creates a beautiful clean look that homeowners are fond of. White cabinets also work well in smaller kitchens, because they help to brighten the space and make the kitchen appear larger. As popular as white cabinets are, grey cabinets are starting to gain popularity. Grey cabinets are both chic and elegant, so if you want your kitchen to feel a bit more luxurious, grey is your go-to color.

White and grey may seem like obvious choices when it comes to kitchen cabinet colors, however, there is another color that is slowly making its way into the kitchen. That color is black. It may seem surprising, but black kitchen cabinets can work in and even enhance a kitchen. Black kitchen cabinets project elegance and provide a rich luxurious atmosphere. While black cabinets look great, using them can be a tricky thing. When using black, you have to be careful that it doesn’t overpower your kitchen and make the room feel dark. On the flip side, if you’re feeling bold, black cabinets may be the way to go.

Extra Large Kitchen Islands

The narrow-surfaced kitchen islands are a thing of the past. Kitchen islands are no longer just for food preparation, they have become focal points of the kitchen. One of the main changes is the larger size and the more ornate design pieces that are included in the design. The kitchen island is now used to make a statement and create an impact in the kitchen.

The kitchen island isn’t just for looks. The new larger kitchen islands can do it all. They have customized storage cabinets and they can house your sink, microwave, dishwasher, or even a wine cooler. They’re no longer used just for serving food or creating a bar.
