From granite to quartz and marble, we can help you find the perfect countertops for your home. Check out these countertop trends for 2018.

Quartz Is Staying

Quartz is rising in popularity, and we knew it would be here to stay. It was introduced as an alternative to granite and since then has become one of the top choices for countertops. Granite is a natural rock and had once dominated the countertop scene. Not only is granite strong and durable, but it also looks great and has many different color options. But there is one downside to granite, it’s porous. This is easily solved by sealing the surface, but the sealant wears off with time and use. Quartz, on the other hand, is non-porous and does not require any sealing. Quartz is available in many different colors, patterns, and even finishes. Add this to its durability and how hygienic it is, and you have yourself a great countertop choice.

Polished vs. Textured Finishes

There has been a shift in design with more textured and tactile surfaces. We are starting to see this shift in countertops too. Honed and leather surfaces are the most common and they can be applied to many different materials like granite, marble, and quartz. Polished is still the most popular look, but there are advantages to the others.
Honed – this finish is a matte finish with little to no shine. The overall look will vary depending on the type of stone that is used, but it should have a low sheen and a smooth surface. A honed finish works well with marble.
Leathered – this finish is a newer style of treatment that has become more popular recently. It has a soft sheen, that is not as glossy as a polished slab, and it has a different feel. The leather finish retains the stone’s natural color which gives it a more sophisticated look. The leathered finish also hides fingerprints and water spots well.

Integrated Kitchen Sinks

The countertop is getting a more modern look and the kitchen sink is as well. A new favorite look for homeowners is a cohesive continuous style from the countertop and down into the sink. The integrated sink with the countertop has become another popular trend. Integrated sinks are made from the same material as the countertop. So the two blend seamlessly together. Not only does it look great, but it also makes maintenance easier. You don’t have to worry about dirty water and pieces of food getting stuck in the space between the sink and the countertop.
